Complete annual maintenance on the property.
No one likes a to-do list because it seems like something new is added every time you check something off.
That is how it is with the property maintenance as well.
You can view the full home-maintenance checklist at this website.
A few of the key items from that list are:
Run the water from each faucet and flush all toilets. The traps in the plumbing drains hold a small bit of water to keep sewer smells from coming back up. It is important to run the water and keep these traps full to prevent the sewer smells from filling the house.
Clean gutters - Gutters are the first defense against water getting around the foundation of a house. If the gutters are not cleaned, the water will not be properly directed which can lead to foundation and seepage problems.
- Inspect the roof and attic for any potential leaks. Even a small leak can turn into major issues including mold in the attic.
It can be tough enough to keep up on the to-do list at your own house, let alone an inherited one. Most people just don't have the time to do it all.
If that is you, give us a call before the maintenance gets behind schedule. If these maintenance items are not taken care, the problems can quickly compound reducing the value of the house.
